QID announces new process for Sulphur removal for the Oil Industry

Products - 1

Friday, 07 October 2011 10:47

Recent environmental regulations limit the sulfur content in fuels to few p.p.m. Hydrodesulfurization is the process of choice of the industry, but benzo- dibenzo- and substituted dibenzo- thiophenes  are recalcitrant substrates in that reducing procedure. QID new process is based on  a combination of technologies which exploits a three-phase system (benzine-water-hydrophobic Ionic Liquid)  to combine the efficiency of:

  • Sulfur-compounds extraction from apolar matrices using Ionic Liquids;
  • metal catalysed Sulfur-compounds oxidation using aqueous solutions of Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) in mild conditions.
Massimo Centazzo, COO of QID says "The new technology greatly reduces the running costs of the process by minimizing the use of hydrogen. We will further develop the process with partners from the Oil&Gas industry.

QID to develop new catalyst for ClO3 (Chlorate) reduction

Monday, 04 October 2010 21:51

QID starts a new line of research to develop a family of nanostructured catalyst to maximize performance of Chlorate Oxidation reactions and substitute Platinum and Rhodium.

The new catalysts will be focused on obtaining higher yields and lower costs. "The new generation of catalysts for ClO3 reduction is a strong challenge, but results are expected in a short time. Our scientists are using our technology to design the new catalysts, given the reactivity requirements." commented Stefano Gallucci, CEO of QID. The new family of catalysts is developed in cooperation with a non disclosed industrial partner.

Friday, 01 October 2010 08:42

QID announces QIDPt for LT-WGS (Water Gas Shift). The new catalyst will replace Platinum and other catalysts to reduce running cost and maximize performance of Water Gas Shift reaction.

The product will be ready by Q32011.

"We are establishing several relationships with companies requiring a WGS catalyst with lower costs, but definitely higher longevity and efficiency than the current commercial ones. We plan to launch pilot tests during next winter." commented Stefano Gallucci, CEO of QID.

Renzo Rosei, President of QID said "QIDPt for WGS will be a real innovation. We’re building a strong technology platform attractive for oil refinement, hydrogen and ammonia production, and several other industrial sectors in need to replace Platinum and Rhodium”
