QID launches QIDPt for PROX, a new line of Platinum free catalysts designed to maximize performance of PReferential OXidation (PROX) reactions.

Ideal for companies working in the hydrogen production sector, the new catalyst has proved to substitute Platinum perfectly, with higher yields and lower costs. "As PROX is a common chemical reaction in the chemical industry, QIDPt for PROX is an ideal addition to our product range in a strong growth market. The move consolidates our position as a Company able to design a catalyts given its reactivity requirements.QID developed and patented the production method itself. It enables us to supply an extremely fine product with industrial quality standards." commented Stefano Gallucci, CEO of QID.

Renzo Rosei, President of QID said "QIDPt for PROX is one of the products on our roadmap of specialized Platinum and Rhodium free catalysts . At the moment we are developing new products to be announced by the end of 2010."

QID

QID is a nanotechnology company offering new catalyst to replace rare and expensive materials as Platinum and Rhodium broadly used in many industries and clean technologies.

QID addresses the market of catalysts and the chemical industry that processes them. Examples include automotive, environment, pollution control, oil refinement, and hydrogen production and fuel cell technology (cleantech). These markets offer a limitless and very rich opportunity for expansion.

Our added value is a general approach that allows to design the result to a specific reaction, knowing from the beginning what to do, what materials are involved, how to assemble them. This is an enormous advantage over competition because it gives QID the ability to fast develop new catalysts with low R&D activity.

QID is a private company with headquarters in Vicenza and labs in Trieste (Italy) at the Elettra Synchrotron, Padova (Italy) at the Veneto Nanotech facilities and Strasbourg (France). The management of the company has been working and studying catalysis for more than 20 years, leading the nanotechnology research and development at major International Research Institutions and large chemical companies and are experts in synchrotron light and chemical synthesis.
